What is the Maxima pickleball paddle shape?
The Maxima paddle shape is the latest wide-body shape with an elongated handle, popular with players who use a two-handed backhand and want the added reach. With the Maxima shape, you get more surface area and a generous (and forgiving) sweet spot that helps avoid mishits.
What are the dimensions of the Maxima paddle shape?
The dimensions of the Maxima paddle shape are:
- Grip Length: 5.5 inches.
- Grip Circumference: 4.25 inches.
- Paddle Height: 16.45 inches.
- Paddle Width: 7.45 inches.

Is the Maxima the same as the S2 paddle shape?
The Maxima paddle shape is not the same as the S2 from Selkirk. Although similar, the S2 has a shorter handle (4.5 inches), shorter height (15.75 inches), and a wider width (8.0 inches) than the Maxima.
How is the new Maxima paddle shape related to the previous Selkirk Maxima paddles?
The Selkirk Maxima paddle shape is not related in any way to the previous Selkirk Maxima pickleball paddle shape. Although using the same name, the new Maxima is its own unique paddle shape, created after months of testing and refining from Selkirk LABS, Selkirk’s research and development division.
Which Selkirk LABS or Selkirk Sport paddles come in the Maxima shape?
Currently, the Maxima shape is available only on the Selkirk LABS Project 008 16mm pickleball paddle. As we receive feedback about the paddle and the Maxima shape, the testing team at Selkirk LABS will determine if the shape will be permanently added to the Selkirk LABS lineup — and whether it will make an appearance in the Selkirk Sport pickleball paddle line.
What players will benefit from the Maxima paddle shape?
Players who use a 2-handed backhand or want extra reach will benefit from the Maxima paddle shape. It is also a great paddle shape option for players who prefer a large sweet spot and surface area.
